The Sub 1 Powered Bass was a great introduction to the world of speakers within the Bose professional division. This product utilizes a unique race track design that can produce much lower and louder frequencies than its traditional circular counterparts.
To bring this product from conception to the prototyping phase, I created I worked on heat sink efficiency, enclosure design and thermal testing.
The heat sink was able to cool the ~25W IC by more than 20°C.
With a dozen thermocouples, I was able to map the thermal behavior of various electrical components and orient my active cooling locations for maximum effectiveness.
Using a table saw, nail gun and audio isolation chamber, I constructed a couple of different prototype enclosures for acoustic engineers to analyze for baseline performance.
